What gear ratios are available?
All MICROGEAR® gearboxes have a 1:1 gear ratio. They can operate with power capacity of 1/6 HP and speeds up to 1800 RPM.
Are MICROGEAR® gearboxes available in both hollow bore and shaft options?
Yes. Hollow bore models can accept keyed shafting through the gearbox.
The MICROGEAR® MG5 has a ¼-in. bore and a ½-in. center distance between the bores. The MG7 has a 3/8-in/ bore with 3/4"-in. center distance between the bores.
Shafted models in both sizes can include solid input/output shafts configured in full-through or 2, 3, or 4-way design.

Are MICROGEAR® gearboxes bidirectional?
Yes. They can rotate clockwise, counter-clockwise, or in both directions. With right-hand direction, the A bore and B bore both rotate clockwise. With left-hand direction, the A bore rotates clockwise but the B bore rotates counter-clockwise. Which type of rotation you need depends on the output rotation required.
Are MICROGEAR® gearboxes available in stainless steel?
Yes, stainless steel is available upon request, making MICROGEAR® an ideal gearbox for sanitary applications and harsh working environments.

What lubrication options are available?
MICROGEAR® gearboxes can be ordered with standard or food grade grease. The standard lubrication is Magnalube-G Grade 2 grease. Each gearbox comes pre-lubricated and sealed within a leak-proof gearcase, so they are essentially lubricated for life.

MICROGEAR® gearboxes may be less than half the size of other Branham right-angle gearboxes, but they deliver the advantages for which all our gearboxes are known:
- Reliability
- Performance
- Precision
- Speed
- Torque control
- Cost-efficiency
- Long life
What operating conditions do MICROGEAR® gearboxes support?
MICROGEAR® gearboxes are designed to operate within a range of -20o to 220o F.
Any gearbox may overheat if operating outside of rated torque and RPM ranges. In addition to speed of rotation and the amount of torque in the application, any axial or moment load on the shaft will increase stress and, therefore, operating temperature. External bearing may be necessary as well as following proper RPM and torque guidelines.

Maintenance & Serviceability
Are MICROGEAR® gearboxes refurbishable on-site?
Yes. Field kits that match MICROGEAR® models are available for on-site replacement of gears and seals.
Maintenance technicians familiar with gearbox components can efficiently disassemble the gearbox, replace parts as needed, and reassemble the gearbox for continued service. This saves time and keeps production lines moving. It also enables preventive maintenance to be performed during scheduled downtime, preventing the need for emergency repairs.
How do I know when MICROGEAR® gearboxes need to be maintained?
Replacing gears and or seals, or the entire gearbox if needed, before they fail completely prevents costly downtime and potential damage to other system components. Look for:
- Noises the gearbox is beginning to make
- Underperformance
- Lubrication leaks
