Maintenance is a fact of life in any industrial or manufacturing setting. However, anything you can do to make it easier will save time, money, and potential productivity interruptions. Artec® ISO 15552, ISO 21287, and ISO 6432 pneumatic cylinders can help ease your maintenance burden during their lifetime and when it’s time for replacement.
Standardization is the key
As is the point with ISO certification, you can rely on a specific ISO pneumatic cylinder to meet certain metric specifications and performance standards. You know what you’re getting. So, for example, you can replace an ISO 6432 pneumatic cylinder from one manufacturer with an ISO 6432 pneumatic cylinder from another manufacturer and rest assured you’re getting the same dimensions and similar performance capabilities.
It is important to note, though, that ISO products can vary in terms of the quality of their internal parts. For example, the piston may be made of aluminum or some other metal.
Resource: 4 Things to Look for in the Quality of ISO Cylinders
At Branham, we carry Artec® pneumatic cylinders in three commonly used models, each of which offers multiple configuration options:
- ISO 6432 micro rod pneumatic cylinders come in bore sizes from 8 to 25mm (in accordance with ISO 6432). They are also available in 32 to 63mm sizes outside the standard.
- ISO 15552 rodded pneumatic cylinders come in bore sizes from 32 to 125mm, in either single or double-acting styles. These are a good choice for high temperature applications and can be used with magnetic sensors.
- ISO 21287 compact rod pneumatic cylinders are similar to the ISO 15552 model but come in bore sizes as small as 20mm.
Standard ISO cylinders have an aluminum housing, but they can be available in nickel or steel. At Branham, we also carry Artec® ISO 15552, ISO 21287, and ISO 6432 pneumatic cylinders in stainless steel. This can be a long-term maintenance benefit in two ways:
- If you’re currently using a standard 15552 cylinder but plant conditions indicate a stainless steel would be more suitable, you can easily make the switch.
- If you need a stainless steel replacement cylinder but for some reason it is not immediately accessible as a replacement part, you can install a non-stainless model temporarily without losing productivity.
For non-cylinder components in operating situations where the cylinder plays a critical functional role—say, a component that attaches to the cylinder—Artec® ISO cylinders assure continued compatibility.
ARTEC® ISO cylinders are maintainable
Nothing says longevity and easier maintenance than pneumatic cylinders you can maintain on site. This is particularly true when it comes to seals. Using the proper seals with pneumatic cylinders is essential, but they do wear out over time, leading to diminished performance or even cylinder failure. Replacing seals as needed is far cheaper and more efficient than having to replace the entire cylinder.
That’s why Branham offers seal kits for our rodded pneumatic cylinders, including ISO models, whether you’re using standard, high temperature or FDA-approved seals.
